Steel beam lifting in Woodstock is a rigging job before it is a crane job. The beam has to be slung so it stays level and does not rotate on the way up, and the crane has to be positioned so the boom can reach the far bearing point without the load swinging past the crew. We work from the beam schedule and the site plan, not from a guess at the gate.

That covers unloading from the delivery truck, picking over an obstruction, and holding the piece while the erecting crew bolts or welds it into place.

Yes. Long or slender beams are picked with two slings or a spreader so the load stays level and the flange is not bent by a single-point lift. The sling points come off the beam schedule.
